registration information

how and when do you register?

YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR ALL PROGRAMS unless otherwise noted. All programs are open to families unless indicated. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Note that class locations and times are subject to change. Check with the Community Education office (386-2055) to confirm schedules.

Some registrations must be made to other cooperating organizations. Please carefully check the course and program listings for this information. Registration must be done by one of the following methods:

In Person at the Community Education Office located in the COE Primary Building at 1009 Eugene Avenue, between the hours of 8:00am to 12:00 Noon and 12:30pm to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

By Phone Call 541-386-2055 during the business hours listed above.

By Fax Complete a registration form and fax to 541-386-7198 24 hours a day.

By Mail Complete a registration form and mail to Community Education at 1009 Eugene Avenue, Hood River, OR 97031.

when do you pay your fees?

Fees are due at the time of registration. We accept checks, debit cards and credit cards. No registration is complete until the fees are paid. Tuition is dependent upon the type and length of the course. There may be additional supply fees on some classes. Make checks payable to Community Education unless otherwise indicated. Please do not mail CASH. You are obligated to purchase any tickets ordered in advance upon registration for any field trip, musical or special event.

WARNING! There will be a $7.00 service charge added to any returned check.

where and how do you pay for the supplies?

Supply fees will be paid at the first class and directly to the instructor unless otherwise noted.

what happens if a program is canceled?

All programs have a minimum enrollment, dependent upon type and length of class, to continue. We reserve the right to cancel any program or class in which registration is insufficient. The Community Education Office will notify all registered individuals if a class has been canceled and your money will be refunded.

frequently asked questions

how do I know if a class has been postponed due to weather?

We will attempt to contact registered students. Listen to KIHR-KCGB Radio Station, or call the KIHR Radio information line at 386- 1336, or Community Education Office during business hours. If a class is postponed, it will be made up at a later date. No continuing weekly classes on holidays, unless arranged beforehand by the teacher and students.

how do I get a refund after the class started?

Fees will be automatically refunded in the circumstance of a program cancellation. No refunds will be made after the 2nd week of a class that is continuing. You may petition the Community Education Office for a refund.

do senior citizens get a discount?

All senior citizens over 60 years of age can enroll in most programs and classes at 1/2 the regular tuition, EXCEPT FOR COLLEGE CREDIT COURSES AND ANY TRIPS, classes where supplies are included, or classes marked specifically for senior citizens. Class supplies and textbooks would not be at half price. Check with the Community Education Office to see if a class qualifies for the senior citizen rate.

can anyone outside hood river county register?

All persons outside the Hood River County area are invited to enroll in any of the programs at no extra cost, unless otherwise indicated.

are children allowed to register for classes?

We encourage families to participate in Community Education programs. Children are allowed to register for classes in which their parents or guardians are also enrolled. The tuition for children up to and including 14 years of age is reduced to 1/2 price. However, supplies are full price. There are special classes where children are not permitted to attend.
